Whether you are visiting family in Sydney or planning a holiday to the Gold Coast, Australia's visitor visa for tourism and family visits is applied for online. Like most long-haul visas, a well-prepared application focuses on three things: your purpose, your funds, and your reasons to return to Pakistan.
How to apply
- Create an account on Australia's official immigration website.
- Complete the visitor visa application and upload your documents.
- Pay the fee.
- Give biometrics if you are asked to.
- Wait for the decision by email.
Tip: Australia issues visas electronically — there is no sticker in your passport. Save and print the grant letter, as airlines may ask to see it.
Documents to prepare
- Passport, with copies of all pages that show previous travel
- National identity documents (CNIC, family registration certificate)
- Proof of employment, approved leave or business ownership
- Bank statements and proof of other assets
- A travel plan showing where you will go and stay
- If visiting family: an invitation letter and proof of your relative's status in Australia
Explain your purpose clearly
The application asks why you want to visit. Answer specifically — "to visit my daughter and grandchildren in Melbourne for four weeks" is much better than "tourism". If you have a relative sponsoring you, explain what they will pay for.
Health insurance
Medical treatment in Australia is expensive for visitors. Even when it isn't required, buying travel health insurance for the whole stay is strongly recommended — and it shows the officer you have planned responsibly.
Make your ties to Pakistan clear
Show your job or business, property, family responsibilities and previous international travel. Long gaps in travel history aren't a problem on their own, but strong ties help.
Planning the trip
Flights to Australia from Pakistan usually connect through the Gulf or Southeast Asia, so a stopover in Dubai, Doha, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore can be a bonus mini-holiday on the way.
