Doha has grown into a popular short break and stopover city — modern museums, desert adventures, the Corniche and some of the best shopping in the Gulf. For Pakistani travellers, Qatar's tourist entry rules have changed several times in recent years, so the first step is always to check the current requirements on Qatar's official visa platform.
How tourist visas work
Qatar processes tourist visas online through its official visa platform. Depending on the current rules, you will usually need:
- A passport valid for at least six months
- A confirmed return ticket
- A confirmed hotel booking for your stay
- A recent photograph and a clear passport scan
- Proof of funds
- Health insurance, if it is required at the time you travel
Tip: Apply only through Qatar's official visa platform or a trusted agent. Unofficial sites often charge extra fees and some don't submit your application at all.
Visiting family in Qatar
If you have a relative living and working in Qatar, they may be able to apply for a family visit visa for you through Qatar's official government services. They will usually need their residence permit details, proof of relationship and proof of income or accommodation.
A simple 4-day Doha plan
- Day 1: Arrive, walk the Corniche and visit Souq Waqif in the evening
- Day 2: Museum of Islamic Art and the Pearl-Qatar
- Day 3: Desert safari with dune bashing and the Inland Sea
- Day 4: Shopping, then departure
Stopover holidays
If you are flying to Europe, the USA or Australia via Doha, a 1–3 night stopover is an easy way to add a mini-holiday to a long journey. Check whether your airline offers stopover hotel deals.
