Baku has become a favourite short holiday for Pakistani families: a modern skyline beside a walled old city, the Caspian Sea promenade, and the green mountains of Gabala just a few hours away. The good news is that the visa is usually straightforward — Pakistani travellers can apply for Azerbaijan's official e-Visa online. Most problems come from avoidable mistakes.
Mistake 1: Using an unofficial website
Search results are full of sites that look official but charge several times the real fee. Apply only through Azerbaijan's official e-Visa portal or through a trusted travel agent.
Mistake 2: Typing errors in passport details
Your name, passport number, date of birth and expiry date must match your passport exactly. A single wrong letter can mean being refused boarding, and the e-Visa usually cannot be edited after it is issued.
Tip: Copy your details from the machine-readable lines at the bottom of your passport's photo page, then check them twice before paying.
Mistake 3: An unclear passport scan
Upload a clear, colour scan of the photo page with all four corners visible. Avoid glare, shadows or cropped edges.
Mistake 4: Wrong travel dates
The e-Visa is valid for a set period from the date you choose. Enter your actual arrival date, and make sure your whole stay fits within the validity. If your flight dates change, check whether your e-Visa still covers them.
Mistake 5: Applying at the last minute
Standard processing usually takes a few working days. Apply at least one to two weeks before travel so there is time to fix any problem.
Mistake 6: Forgetting to print it
Carry a printed copy of your e-Visa along with your return ticket and hotel booking. Airline staff may check it before boarding.
