Canada Visit Visa from Pakistan: How to Build a Strong Application

Canada is a popular destination for Pakistani families, especially for parents visiting children who live there. The Canadian visitor visa (Temporary Resident Visa) is applied for online, followed by fingerprints and a photo at a visa application centre in Pakistan. Because applications are assessed on paper, your documents need to tell the whole story by themselves.

How the process works

  1. Create an account on the official Canadian immigration website and complete the online application.
  2. Upload your documents and pay the fees.
  3. Give your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at the visa application centre when asked.
  4. Wait for the decision. If approved, you will be asked to submit your passport for the visa to be placed in it.

Processing times change often, so check the current estimate on the official website and apply well in advance.

Documents to prepare

  • Valid passport, plus old passports showing your travel history
  • Proof of employment or business, and income
  • Personal bank statements and proof of assets such as property
  • Family information, including family members staying in Pakistan
  • A clear travel plan and purpose of visit

If you are visiting family

Ask your relative in Canada to provide:

  • An invitation letter with their full details, your relationship, the dates of your visit, where you will stay and who is paying
  • Proof of their status in Canada (citizenship or permanent residence)
  • Proof of their income or finances, if they are supporting your trip

Tip: Write a short letter of explanation in your own words, describing your purpose, your plan and why you will return. Upload it with your documents — it helps the officer understand your situation.

Show strong ties to Pakistan

Canadian officers want to be sure you will leave at the end of your visit. Your job, business, property, family responsibilities and past travel to countries like the UK, USA or Schengen all help.

Common reasons for refusal

  • Not enough evidence of ties to Pakistan
  • Unclear or insufficient funds
  • Purpose of visit not explained
  • Travel history that doesn't support the trip
