Malaysia eVISA from Pakistan: A Step-by-Step Guide

Malaysia is one of the most affordable and family-friendly international holidays for Pakistani travellers. Kuala Lumpur, the cool hills of Genting, and island resorts like Langkawi and Penang can all fit into one trip. Pakistani passport holders need a visa, and most tourists apply online through the Malaysia eVISA system.

Before you start

  • Your passport should be valid for at least six months from your arrival date
  • Have a clear, recent passport-size photo with a white background
  • Scan your passport's photo page in colour, with all four corners visible
  • Have your return flight reservation and hotel booking ready

Tip: Use only the official Malaysian government eVISA website or an authorised agent. Many look-alike websites charge high "service fees" and some are scams.

Step-by-step

  1. Create an account on the official eVISA website.
  2. Fill in your personal and passport details exactly as they appear in your passport — spelling mistakes are the most common reason for rejection.
  3. Upload your documents: passport scan, photo, return flight reservation and hotel booking. Some applicants are also asked for bank statements or an employment letter.
  4. Pay the fee online.
  5. Wait for the decision by email, then download and print your eVISA.

Documents to carry when you travel

  • Printed eVISA
  • Return ticket
  • Hotel bookings for your whole stay
  • Some cash or a card for expenses

Immigration officers may ask about your plans, so know where you are staying and for how long.

Don't forget the tourism tax

Malaysian hotels charge foreign guests a small tourism tax per room, per night, paid directly at check-out. It is usually not included in package prices, so keep a little cash aside.

Popular Malaysia routes

  • Kuala Lumpur + Genting Highlands — 4 to 5 nights, ideal for a first visit
  • Kuala Lumpur + Langkawi — city and island in one week
  • Malaysia grand tour — Melaka, KL, Langkawi, Penang and Genting in 10 to 12 nights
