Thailand offers some of the best value holidays in Asia — busy Bangkok, lively Pattaya, and the turquoise islands of Phuket and Krabi. Pakistani passport holders need a visa before travelling, and Thailand now runs its visa applications through an official online e-Visa system.
Documents usually required
- Passport valid for at least six months, with blank pages
- Recent passport-size photograph
- Confirmed return flight booking
- Hotel bookings for your stay
- Bank statements for the last six months, showing enough funds for the trip
- Employment letter, or business documents if self-employed
- For students: an enrolment letter, plus the parents' financial documents
Tip: Upload clear colour scans, not phone photos taken at an angle. Unclear documents are one of the most common reasons for delays.
How to apply
- Register on the official Thai e-Visa website.
- Choose the tourist visa category and fill in your details.
- Upload your documents and pay the fee.
- Wait for approval by email, then print your e-Visa and carry it with you.
Apply at least three to four weeks before travel, and earlier during school holidays.
Planning your Thailand trip
- 7 days: Phuket and Krabi — the Phi Phi Islands and Krabi's 4 Islands tour
- 7 days: Bangkok and Pattaya — city tours, a Chao Phraya cruise dinner and Coral Island
- 12–13 days: Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket and Krabi — the complete Thailand experience
Moving between Bangkok and the islands is quickest by domestic flight, while Bangkok to Pattaya is a short road transfer.
Travel tips
- Carry some cash in Thai baht; small shops and boat tours often don't take cards
- Dress modestly when visiting temples — shoulders and knees covered
- Use sunscreen and stay hydrated on island tours
