Travelling Abroad with Children: Visa Documents for Families

A family holiday abroad is exciting — but a family visa application has more moving parts than a single one. Each child needs their own application, and the visa officer needs to see clearly who the children are, who they are travelling with, and who is paying. Getting this right helps the whole family be approved together.

Documents for each child

  • Passport valid for at least six months
  • B-Form / CRC (Child Registration Certificate) from NADRA
  • Birth certificate, preferably the NADRA computerised version
  • Recent photographs that meet the embassy's requirements
  • School enrolment letter stating the child is a current student and will return after the holiday — this is an important "tie" to Pakistan

Documents that link the family together

  • Family Registration Certificate (FRC) from NADRA, showing parents and children
  • Marriage certificate (Nikah Nama), translated if required
  • Parents' passports and CNICs

Tip: Submit the family's applications together and include a cover letter that lists every family member, their relationship, and the shared travel plan.

If only one parent is travelling

Many embassies and airlines ask for a consent letter from the parent who is not travelling. It should:

  • Give the non-travelling parent's full name, CNIC number and contact details
  • State the child's name, passport number and travel dates
  • Clearly give permission for the child to travel with the other parent
  • Be signed, and preferably attested

Attach a copy of the non-travelling parent's CNIC. If a parent has passed away or the parents are separated, include supporting documents such as a death certificate or custody papers.

Financial documents

Normally the parent paying for the trip provides bank statements and income proof for the whole family. The balance should comfortably cover everyone's flights, hotels and daily costs.

Practical tips for travelling with kids

  • Choose hotels with family rooms or connecting rooms
  • Prefer direct flights, or short layovers
  • Keep children's medicines and a change of clothes in hand luggage
  • Pick destinations with family activities — theme parks, beaches and aquariums

Family packages

Malaysia, Thailand, Turkey and Dubai are great first trips for families. Browse our tour packages or tell us your children's ages and we will suggest the right trip.
